Overview

Little Tokyo Ramen is a hidden gem nestled next to a lively brewery on Lakeshore Road in Kelowna. This small food truck might look unassuming, but it delivers a ramen experience that is nothing short of exceptional. For anyone seeking authentic, handmade Japanese comfort food in a casual setting, this spot is a must-visit.

The cornerstone here is their ramen, particularly the soy sauce-based and red bean miso variations. Each bowl is a careful balance of rich, umami-packed broth, tender slices of pork or beef, and noodles that are clearly crafted by hand. The texture of the noodles stands out as one of the best in the region, offering a perfect chew that complements the carefully simmered broth. The pork, often praised as unparalleled, melts in your mouth — a testament to the skill and dedication behind the scenes.

Located in a charming barn-style building adjacent to the brewery, the overall atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. While the food truck itself lacks formal seating, the nearby renovated barn provides a cozy, rustic environment where you can enjoy your ramen alongside a cold drink. This pairing enhances the experience, making it more than just a meal but rather a local gathering point where great food meets good company.

Little Tokyo caters to a broad audience, from ramen aficionados who travel far and wide to sample the best bowls, to locals who consider it their second home. The demand often leads to lines forming before opening, and sometimes the limited portions sell out early, so timing your visit is part of the adventure.

There are a few caveats; the menu is relatively simple, focusing on core ingredients without the usual heavy garnishing. Some might find the lack of extras like bamboo shoots or greens a touch sparse, but the purity of flavors more than makes up for it. The wait time can be long during busy hours, but the friendly service and excellent craft beer selection nearby help ease the anticipation.

In sum, Little Tokyo Ramen offers a genuine and thoughtfully prepared ramen experience in a warm, community-centered space. It’s a spot where quality takes precedence over quantity, and where every component reflects the craft of a passionate chef. For those in or visiting Kelowna, it’s well worth making the trip.

You don't really realize how great this place is until you start eating Ramen at other establishments. The pork is unparalleled. Maybe a couple places in Vancouver are as good. The noodles are incredible. Maybe one or two places in Canada are as good and I go to Ramen everywhere, when you combine the combination of amazing noodles, succulent pork, as well as a tasty broth you got yourself one of the best Ramen bowls in Canada. The only thing they could maybe amp up is the spice level on the spicy Ramen, but that's always gonna be hard to dial in. They serve in the barn, Al restaurant and brewery, and the owners are just lovely people. I've eaten there probably 20 times in the last three years as our second home is within walking distance. It is delightful.

After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews myself and a couple others went to try out Little Tokyo’s ramen, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. No contest. A lineup was waiting for opening stretching around the nearby barnhouse brewery and when we were delivered our ramen it was better than probably anything noodle related I’ve ever tried? Broth - perfect. Wanted to drink it when I was done. Noodles - you can tell they’re handmade and it’s a standout especially compared to local options I’ve tried at full restaurants. Texture was perfect. Beef - so tender it reminded me of great brisket. 10/10 amazing food truck

A tiny little food truck next to a brewery in a beautiful part of Mission! My boyfriend and I tried it for the first time and were blown away. The lady running the food suggested #1 soy sauce based ramen and #3 red bean miso for a spicy flavour as their two most popular items, so of course we tried them both! Everything, even the noodles, are hand made by Yuki, who is someone I would identify as a world class chef, and a ramen artist. This detail is evident in the taste of the broth and the texture of the noodles. Would definitely suggest adding an egg to your ramen, but even without, it was spectacular. By buying anything from a beer to a pop at the brewery, you can sit in the ski lodge deco renovated barn, and the team at Little Tokyo will find you when your food is ready. Little Tokyo by itself is a must for ramen lovers, and the add on of a brewery just makes the whole experience off the charts fantastic! Please note: they have limited supply, so it’s best to go around opening to make sure you get a chance to try the ramen before their supplies run out for the day.

Some of the best broth ive had in a long time, super umami and flavourfull. Noodles were fresh and tasty. Downside: egg is included in basic ramen, and when i tried to pay extra for one they didnt have any. I find the ingredients of the ramen overall a little sparse, no bamboo, no bol choy, no anything really, a very basic ramen. food truck so not much atmosphere but barn owl has some vibes. There was a considerable wait for our ramen (over an hour) we didn't mind waiting but most would, at least there's cold beer next door while you wait. Overall a worthy ramen, were not from the mission area, so is it worth the drive, the wait, the cost (about 20 bucks a bowl), difficult parking, and lack of ingredients? Maybe actually, it was pretty good.

Some of the best ramen my girlfriend & I have ever had! Everything about it was perfect - the noodles, park & broth were so delicious we even got extra noodles to eat with the remaining bit of broth we had. The owners are very friendly as well! Would definitely recommend coming here!

Best ramen in BC by far. Chef Suki and Jess (I hope I remembered right) were the perfect chef and server combo. The Yakisoba was the family's favorite, though quickly followed by the White Miso and the Chashu Men (note: it is the Traditional Shoyu Ramen with extra pork). The broth! My goodness, the broth is so good. I can't decide which was better but the White Miso edged out the Shoyu broth with the rest of my diners. I think the corn really amplified the White Miso broth. The pork was cooked perfectly; so tender and what I can only assume was a perfectly executed bark. Absolutely loved it. Would devour again, and again, and again. This is the most quaint little pop up food truck and really digs into the theme. Jess connected with my daughters with Totoro love. And Jess is so attentive and brings your order to you, wherever you sit (maybe don't leave). Note: you can leverage the Barn Owl Brewing dining area with the only caveat being you need to purchase a drink, which is very reasonable. Jess finds you in there as well! All around a wonderful dining experience, and kudos to ownership for being so awesome and making out of this world ramen. We ended up taking our noodles to go, and found a park nearby to enjoy our meal. We ended up ordering three dishes, with an added on egg (you guessed right, it was very yummy) and it was enough to feed my family of five with a very reasonable price. My son could have eaten more, but he is 13, no helping that. Highly, highly recommend. Seriously. Don't sleep on Little Tokyo Ramen.
